Sunday Morning

Mom slept really well last night. The nurse had her on a great pain medication cycle that helped her sleep. Mom was worried about the swelling in her legs, but Dr. Christopher Herndon came in and told her that was normal due to all the fluids given to her during surgery - eventually the swelling would be gone.

Dr. Berkowitz came a little later with Dr. Fleming and Dr. Herndon. He explained that the swelling in her legs is due to her under nourishment (low albumin), pressure in the stomach, and fluids in her body from the surgery - it will go away. Also, he talked about exercising - he was impressed by the amount she had walked - and told her not to overexert herself. Once she passes gas she can start drinking fluids without much regulation - then they can start moving forward with the chemotherapy treatment discussion involving Dr. Berlin.

Beloved sister Joanne,

We miss you. Our hope and prayer is for your full recovery. Praise Him, he is our Living Hope, living always to intercede. We look forward to being able to visit you at home and sing hymns with you, e.g., "Oh how we love within His presence to dwell". His sweet presence is everything to us.

The Lord be with your spirit, grace be with you.

Greetings all,
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this time. We read the blog several times a day. Thank you all for sharing with us.

John and I were on Long Island yesterday and spent the day with Grandma Kowalski. She looks good. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Umberto's and then took a walk to enjoy the Sunny weather. John also took advantage of "Toxic Waste Removal" day and "WOW" grandma's garage looks great. Stephen, you would be impressed!

Joann it is great that you are walking and progressing well. As Rousseau stated " Patience is bitter but its fruit is sweet".

As today is mother earth day, John and I are off to celebrate.

Peace and Love, Mary & John
