This past weekend Joanne continued to eat small portions of hospital food and some food that has been brought in for her. She is limited to foods that are relatively easy to digest. We appreciate all of those who have come to help her get food from the nursing station refrigerator and those who have offered to come during some of the lunch and dinner hours next week.
Hair loss has begun and this is a challenging adjustment. We were able to pick up a few simple turban hats and someone provided a few more which have come in handy.
Difficult moments come from time to time when Joanne becomes aware of her limitation in being able to take an active role in parenting the children and participate in their events.
She has also been a little distressed when visiting hours at night have been cut short by one staff member. This is the time when she needs extra help while hooked up to the IV to move around and she can feel quite lonely as she begins a long night. Her doctor, case manager, and fellow room patient have approved more flexible hours for visitation by the family, but this is not consistently allowed. Please pray that peace would abound as all things are headed up in Him and His grace would be multiplied according to the riches of His glory.
We have become aware of our need to buy oil through these circumstances so our vessel will be filled with the Spirit. We are also very thankful for all of the continued kindnesses manifest through the members of the Body of Christ, family, and friends.

I am glad to hear that the dressing changes are getting better and that you are tolerating sm amt of foods. As far as the extended visiting hours is concerned-talk to the Unit manager and the social worker there and have them include this as an intervention to assist you in coping with all that you are going through and dealing with. As long as your roommate doesn't mind it really shouldn't be an issue if they "care plan" it. Maybe you can even have the visit in another room or see if your insurance will pay for a private room espcially with a large wound & the potential for your immune response to become comprimised with the chemo.

Dear Joanne,
As I said, I think and pray for you every day as I pass by the house on New Gulph Road where you lived here in the Philly area and by the Bryn Mawr College campus on my way to work three days a week. Because I do not even pretend to know what the Lord's will is with regard to this illness, I pray that every day and in everything, you and your family will gain more of Christ because this is the real healing that every one of us needs daily no matter what our outward circumstances are. To realize and accept that everything that comes our way is in the sovereign hand of God is such a release from anxiety and care, and to know that it comes so that we may have an intensified opportunity to gain more of Him is one of the highest revelations of His will that we can have. May this be your experience and comfort day by day.
