Filled with thanksgiving

Words can not express all of our thanks for:

Bright flowers to comfort and cheer
Visits supplying grace and peace
Cherishing meals prepared in love
Kind deeds from giving hearts
Words of hope and supporting faith
Sweet incense from many prayers

Joanne and family,
Last night in my Bible reading I came upon this footnote to Psalm 23. I thought of you immediately and wanted to share it with you.
Verse 4: "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I do not fear evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me."
Footnote to "Valley of the shadow of death:" "...When we walk through the valley, we do not fear any evil, for the penumatic Christ is with us. His presence is a comfort, a rescue, and a sustaining power to us. When we are in the valley, we should simply remain there and rest in the Lord. Our resting in the Lord will shorten the valley, reduce the shadow, and remove the death."
We are praying for you here in Austin!
Love,
Hannah
P.S. It was nice to speak with Elizabeth for a while on the phone yesterday. :-)

Hi Joanne :
Our hymn this morning included this verse. We thought of you.

Every joy or trial
Falleth from above,
Traced upon our dial
By the Sun of Love.
We may trust Him fully
All for us to do;
They who trust Him Wholly
Find Him wholly true.

One of our kids thought "wholly" was "holy", so we sang "Holy, Holy, Holy" enjoying it tremendously. Praise the Lord, He's merciful and mighty. If a person is mighty, he may not be so merciful. And if a person is so merciful, he may not be that mighty. Praise the Lord, our God is both....
Ah, the hymns, what a treasure.
With love,
Carol, for the Nolands
