Surgery Update

I saw the pre-op nurse practitioner yesterday and got some of the details of the upcoming surgery. They will attempt to do it laparoscopically but if they are not able since it is rather large, they will have to do regular abdominal surgery. But the nurse told me that if anyone can do it, Dr. Brooks can. One of the problems following surgery is that a large amount of CO2 is pumped into the abdominal cavity so that all the organs can be viewed more easily - this causes a great deal of pain following surgery but walking usually helps the body absorb the CO2. Depending on what happens, I will at least spend one night at BWH.
